Blog One

I had been walking for about an hour minutes. My clothes were soaked and I had been clambering in the humid jungle. At least I wasn't the only one. I would have been terrified to been in the jungle all by myself. All of us were in our school uniforms and all of us were covered with water and now from walking through the jungle we were covered in mud. I decided to take my uniform off and when I did this a cold breeze rushed through the jungle and this caused me to quiver for a second. By now some of the boys seemed to start getting a but cold, and a bit sick. One of the boys in my group, well his face became very pale, a pallor look on his face. I went up to him to ask him if he was okay.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“Yeah, I think so” he said.

“Well you don't look so good there”I replied.

“I just feel a bit hungry, is all”he said.

“Well maybe we could find some food for you before you pass out from hunger”

“Yeah, that sounds like a very good idea” he said.

We all walk around a little just looking up into the trees and looking at the plants on the ground. There was a jumble of plants all around us. But I wasn't sure if we could eat any of these plants. I knew what ever type of real food we would find, that these boys would devour it. As we walked through the hot, steamy, jungle the vines dangling from the trees felt very grating. They were every where. The jungle was a very filthy place. Mud, branches and many other things. Walking through it wasn't a day at the park. One of the boys in my group was very decorous. He kept on wining about walking through the jungle. He said it was disgusting, I didn't mind it much. I was to busy speculating on how I would be saved. I wanted to go home as soon as possible. Being stranded wasn't what i wanted. We hadn't gone that deep into well at least I think so. Then a heard a strident noise that filled the air. Sounded like some kind of a whistle or something. We followed the noise until we got to the beach. I could see some boys standing at the shore. Nice to see some more faces.

“Hello there” I said.

I could see a group of about 5 boys standing there but more kept coming so I couldn't count at the moment. There was a skinny one and a really chubby one. We formed a small circle like ring round the two boys. One of them was holding a really big, shiny shell. I began to make conversation with one of the boys next to me.

“Nice to meet you”

“Nice too meet you too”

“Where have you been?”

“Well we walked around in the jungle for a bit looking for something to eat. What about you?”

“Well we were too walking around and we made it to what I think is a lagoon”

“Really, I think i would have seen that”

While the two boy stood there talking, I had been conversing with the young gentlemen next to me. I was totally oblivious to what was going on until the crowd broke out in a hysterical laughter. All I heard was...

“PIGGY!”

“OH PIGGY!”

Laughter was coming from even the smallest children. I asked one on the boys quietly,

“What happened?”

He told me,”Well one of those chaps over there just vainly said that that chaps name right there is Piggy”

I looked up and the chubby boy went very pink, bowed his head and cleaned his glasses again. I didn't see much humor in this. The laughing continued. I felt like i had to interpose on what was happening but I did not.

“Stop it, my name isn't Piggy!” he said with indignation in he voice he yelled to the crowd. The boys looked at each other in quandary, but still continued to giggle.

Time passed and we continued to talk.

“Seems to me we ought to have a chief”

“A chief”

“Yeah a chief”

“Can I be chief!”

The boy holding the conch, Ralph, said, “Well we can't all be chief.

“Lets have a vote”

“Yes!”

“Vote for chief!”

“Lets vote-”

“Quite down then, so we can vote”Ralph said. “Him with the shell let him be chief”

“Ralph, Ralph!”

Everyone agreed.

“Who wants Jack for chief?”Ralph said.

My vote was for Ralph, he seemed like a good leader, and he seemed to know what he was doing. Plus he had the shell trumpet thing, the conch I mean.
